Golf in Costa Rica
Costa Rica has has entered into the business of golf for several years, but it is during the last years that has developed more in this area. Currently, there are several sites where you can practice golf, both on the beaches of the Pacific Coast and in the Central Valley.
The golf industry in Costa Rica is still in its early stages, which were comparable to other countries in Latin America several years ago. But this does not mean that golf courses in Costa Rica are not really good. Currently there are only 6 world class golf courses with 18 holes in all the country and all of them meet world class standards for quality of routing, maintenance and turf conditions, according to experts. Being a new tourism industry in Costa Rica has certain advantages. For example the courses are rarely completely filled, for that reason most of the time the student need not worry about the lack of quota. The rates are about $ 80 and are on a par with the rates of most other courses in the region. Attractive packages that include lower rates of the courses are available as well as travels to golf resorts .

The Cariari Golf Course in Costa Rica is one of few that are inside the Central Valley actually located near the Capital of San José. This Golf course is ideal for golfing in Costa Rica when traveling on a quick business because it is located just 15 minutes from the Airport.
This par 71, 6.590 yards golf courses in Costa Rica was originally deigned by George Fazio and built by his nephew Tom Fazio in the early 70’s. The real estate property on which is was built was a coffee plantation and is still a heavily wooded area. The fairways on this Costa Rica golf courses are narrow but with few fairway bunkers, meanwhile the greens are more on the larger side and well guarded by carefully placed sand traps. The greens are well maintained Bermuda grass which due to it’s excellent condition year round provide a fast and accurate roll.

Golf Courses in Costa Rica were introduced in 1944 with the appearance of the first Costa Rica golf course opened in the Costa Rica Country Club, which featured a simple 9 hole course still in use today. The country club also has a Club house - estaurant, swimming pool, raquetball, tennis and other ammenities. This Golf Couse remained the only one until the creation of the Cariari Country Club golf courses in Costa Rica
